Río de la Plata republicanisms: Dialogues on philosophy, history and contemporary political science
Synopsis
In this inaugural work of the Law, History and Politics Collection, Nicolás Emanuel Olivares (Director of the collection together with Sabrina Morán) presents a new and dynamic way of getting in touch with scientific research in this field of social sciences: the interview. Among the general objectives of this project is to characterize and contrast the main normative conceptions and semantic uses assumed by the concepts of democracy, autocracy, justice, human rights, republic, transition and consolidation, assumed during the period 1979-2006 in the Rio de la Plata in general and the Argentine North Patagonian space in particular. In this sense, it can be affirmed that this book constitutes a possible answer to the question about what have been the meanings attributable to said fundamental political concepts in the context of the complex processes of transition and democratic consolidation of the River Plate, that is, those that occurred in Argentina and Uruguay. The interviewees, all with notable careers, are: Raquel García Bouzas, Gerardo Caetano, Fernanda Diab, Gabriela Rodríguez Rial, Roberto Gargarella and Gabriel Di Meglio.
The author of this work has received the support of the Institute of Historical and Social Studies of La Pampa IEHSOLP, the Facultad de Ciencias Económicas y Jurídicas of the Universidad Nacional de La Pampa (Argentina), and the Facultad de Derecho of the Universidad de la República UdelaR (Uruguay).
